Money Laundering Regulations

Regulation 24 of the Money Laundering Regulations 2017 requires law firms to:

  • make employees aware of the law relating to money laundering and terrorist financing
  • regularly provide training in how to recognise and deal with transactions and other activities which may be related to money laundering or terrorist financing

Bribery Act

Section 7 of the UK Bribery Act 2010 requires firms to have in place:

  • adequate procedures designed to prevent persons associated with the organisation from undertaking [bribery-related] conduct

Frequently asked questions

Are the courses available on an unlimited on-demand basis?

Yes! The courses are available 24/7 to all of your staff. All employees and consultants at your firm can use the courses any time, and as often as you need.

Can we use these courses to form part of our induction procedure for new employees?

Absolutely. There is no limit on the number of users you can add to the training system, and new users can be added at any time. Online training is a great way to get your new joiners trained up on their mandatory requirements as soon as (or even before) they start working at the firm.

How do the users access their training? How does the system know which user is logged in?

VinciWorks utilises unique ‘single-click’ invitation emails which are unique for each user and for each course. The encrypted links in the emails tell the system which user is accessing the system, and which course they would like to take. This means that all you need to do is click once and start! You can see a sample invitation email here.

Why does my firm need this training?

A number of UK laws and regulations mandate training on certain important topics. For example, the EU Money Laundering Regulations require “ongoing training” to “appropriate staff”. The SRA also stresses the importance of training in the requirements laid out in the SRA Handbook.
